Jalan Alor
Located in close proximity to Kuala Lumpur's shopping capital, Bukit Bintang,
Jalan Alor is a hidden gem for visitors who want try a different taste of
Malaysia. Parallel to Jalan Bukit Bintang, this street, which is almost a world
of difference from the next street over, is one of the most famous streets in
the city for Chinese Malaysian food. Popular place to go for dinner for locals
and adventurous tourists alike.
The mostly Chinese restaurants offer a wide variety of food. Conveniently for
tourists most of the menus have pictures of the dishes which makes it a great
place to try out new dishes. It’s recommended to go there with a group of people
to have more variety by sharing dishes. Most of the culinary options are of the
Chinese Malaysian variety.
During the day the street can be a little quiet, and while even though some of
the restaurants are open, there’s not much outside seating. However, at night is
when the street comes alive and round tables are wheeled onto the road
accompanied by those all familiar plastic chairs.
Perfect time to go here is around 7.00 pm - 10.00 pm. Both sit down restaurants
and small street stalls line the road. Most restaurants are open until the wee
morning hours.
