Gaya Street

Gaya Street (Sunday Market) is the place to go on Sunday mornings for some retail therapy. It is located at the Kota Kinabalu Central Business District which has served as the centre for businesses for over a hundred years.

Gaya Street is closed off to traffic every Sunday morning to make way for the fair. You can buy almost everything here. There are stalls which sell arts, craft, food, fruits, antiques and so much more.

This indeed is the best place to experience the culture and the lives of the Sabahan families on a Sunday outing. The Gaya Street Fair starts as early as 6am in the morning until 1.00 pm in the afternoon.

Other than the Gaya Street, there are plenty other places of attraction. Sabah is a magnificent place to explore and visit. The locals here are friendly and are willing to help. For sightseeing, you can opt for a local tour guide to bring you around.

The KK Esplanade Kota Kinabalu is a great place for picturesque views and for photography.

The KK Esplanade expands from the Filipino Market and all the way to the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Wisma Merdeka. There are also plenty of food stalls and cafe for you to dine here.

Getting There

You can get to Gaya Street by foot from anywhere in the city or take a cab into the town area.
