Terengganu State Museum

Terengganu State Museum is located at Kuala Terengganu, not far from the city center, it's approximately 6 km away. It took up an area of 27 hectares, and is the largest museum in Malaysia.

The museum was established in the year 1976. In 1994, the museum had its new home in the Terengganu State Museum Complex located on a 27 hectare land in Bukit Kampung Losong, Paloh, Kuala Terengganu. This new museum complex has buildings which are inspired by the architectural design of traditional Malay houses in Terengganu.

Within the complex there are many galleries showcasing different items such as textiles, Islamic artifacts, history artifacts, comtempory arts, weapons, fisheries and a lot more.

It also housed the 'Batu Bersurat' which signifies the acceptance of Islamic teaching in Terengganu and eventually the Malay Peninsula.

Closed on the first and second day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidil Adha.

Getting There

Terengganu State Museum is located in Bukit Losong, easily accessed by road and only takes 15 - 20 min from town. The Heritage Town bus departs from MBKT bus terminal in Kuala Terengganu, brings passengers around town that includes the museum as part of its trip. Other alternative is by taxi or car.
