Pulau Aman

Overview
Pulau Aman is a small island in Penang, Malaysia. Famously known as the 'Island
of Peace', it is a home to a traditional Malay village. There are many
interesting places to visit in Pulau Aman such as Jalan Telaga Emas, Batu
Perompak and the nearby island of Pulau Gedung.
It is said that Pulau Aman and Pulau Gedung were once owned by two brothers
named Mr. Md Saad and his older brother. Saad died at the age of 99.
Accommodations
As the measurement to protect the natural heritage in the Pulau Aman, there are
no accommodation available in the island at the moment. Homestay at fishing
village in Pulau Aman can be arrange. Check with boat owner while you boarding.
Pulau Aman has one of the nicest beaches in the park its clean white sand and
crystal clear water and coral reefs fringing the shoreline makes it ideal for
swimming, snorkelling and diving.
Attractions
There are many interesting places to visit in Pulau Aman such as Jalan Telaga
Emas, Batu Perompak, Gua Lanun and the nearby island of Pulau Gedung. Batu
Perompak means Pirates rock. From the ancient days the pirates pillaged the
waters around the island.
Gua Lanun means pirates cave and. This is a major haunt for the pirates, where
they amassed their spoils.
Activities
Pulau Aman is a fishing paradise. Other activity on the Island includes jungle
trekking allowing you to step into the virgin jungle. It is a suitable place for
honeymooners, away from the noise and pollution of cities and better developed
resorts. Simply put ... peaceful, relaxing and cool.
Beach
Pulau Aman's beach is very picturesque, with the huge green forest of Pulau
Pinang on one side and the Pulau Langkawi at other end. Among the most pristine
and untouched regions of Pulau Aman is Pasir Panjang (Long Beach), which is
nestled in a long stretch of golden sands.
The moment one arrives at the jetty, crystal clear water of the sea with school
of fish numbering in thousand can be seen swimming around the jetty. Among them
are Napoleon fish and Parrot fish.
After passing through the park entrance, most visitors will head off to the
short white sandy beach which stretches from the jetty to the western rocky
cliff. Wooden tables and seats are provided put there are not many, some
visitors might have to use floor mate to settle down their belongings.
Transportation
Pulau Aman is reachable by ferry boat from the pier at Bukit Tambun. Park your
car in the open space in front of the pier. There is a big signboard pointing to
the jetty for Pulau Aman. The fare is RM4 (and RM2.50 for children) per way. The
journey to the Pulau Aman is about thirty minutes from pier at Bukit Tambun.
Pulau Aman is accessible by a 10 minute boat ride from Batu Musang Jetty in Batu
Kawan, Seberang Perai at RM6.00 per adult and RM4.00 per child for a two-way
ride.
